A Fresh Start

THE GIRL & THE BACKSTORY -

Hey! I'm Nicole, and I like to read. Also I like all things glittery & sparkly. I've never bedazzled anything in my life. To be honest, I can't even imagine what that process looks like. I hear there's a gun involved. But that is how bookdazzled came into existence. Books + sparkles = Nicole.

Now let's get down to business.
Books.

BOOKS.

I read a fair amount of books. And my friends do not read nearly as much as I do. See the problem? I feel like I might explode from lack of book talk! Who will I talk about books to? No one I know! So, thank goodness for the internet. Even if nobody reads this, it's been said.

THE CHALLENGE -

I decided to read 100 books last year. Now here's a little background: I am a very new recent reader. I'm not sure if that sounds redundant, but I feel like all of those words are necessary. Here's why:

I read a lot when I was younger. By younger, I mean from 12 to 14 years old. By a lot, I mean constantly juggling 3 or 4 books at a time. In high school, I stopped reading. Completely. Stopped. Didn't read a single book for entertainment until... THE SUMMER OF 2014. And I am 23.

So.

That means approximately 8 years or so of NOT READING. At all.

Then, I took a children's literature class for my old major - elementary education (I've since switched to English!). And it was a game-changer. I read books like Cinder by Marissa Meyer and Book of a Thousand Days by Shannon Hale, because I had to. And I fell in love with reading again.

So to sum up, I read 44 books from June 2014 to December 2014. And I failed in 2015. But I read 96 books, which is a personal record! This year I've set my goal to 75, because school is insane. I feel like this is doable. I often second-guess myself, but let's do this! I'm my own personal cheerleader!

I'll keep you updated!
