The Lunar Chronicles Book Tag

In celebration of the highly anticipated November 10th release, Winter by Marissa Meyer, I decided it's a perfect time to do this Lunar Chronicles Book Tag since we're finishing up the series soon! I first saw this at bookaddictsguide.com - I wish I were creative enough to make it up myself! Book tags are super fun, so feel free to do it yourself and comment a link to your blog or just type your answers in a comment below.

Here are the answers I came up with:

1. Cinder - The Cyborg:
A book that's often misunderstood or under-appreciated.

I feel like there are so many books I could put under this category! But I finally decided to choose The Sweetest Spell by Suzanne Selfors. This is SO under-appreciated! I personally don't know of anyone who has read it, but it is 100% adorable. It's a fairytale about a girl who can make chocolate. CHOCOLATE, GUYS. Chocolate + fairytales! Why have you not read it yet?

2. Kai - The Prince:
A book about royals/royalty.

Okay, so this is like 70% of the books I read because I have a HUGE weakness for princess books, which probably stems from my love of all princessy Disney movies. So obviously this is a difficult decision to make. But I have to go with one of my favorites, The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson. Holy goodness, this book is so great! I have yet to read the second one, but I'm working on that soon. Basically, it's Princess Lia's wedding day. She doesn't know the prince she's to marry, so naturally she runs away. And everything that happens in this book is beautiful and magical and stunning and creative! And of course there's the crazy twist. Read this as soon as you get the chance!

3. Adri - The Evil Stepmother:
A book with a horrible/cringe-worthy parent.

I feel like this is also nearly every book I read, but I was torn between the Throne of Glass series (Prince Dorian's father, obviously) and the book I finally settled on for this category, which is An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir. Because of Elias' mom. The Commandant. She is a terror. A true nightmare. I despise her and I think she is an absolutely BRILLIANT villain. And this book is easily one of my favorite books so far this year. Now, if you haven't read this, PLEASE DO YOURSELF THIS WONDERFUL FAVOR. Repent & read it!

4. Iko - The Spunky Sidekick:
A book with your favorite happy-go-lucky character.

Can't I just pick Iko for this? ;) Haha. Well, another great happy-go-lucky character is Jude, from Never Fade by Alexandra Bracken, the second book in The Darkest Minds trilogy. I think Jude is as happy-go-lucky as a person can be in that terrifying world, and I ADORE him for that! That kid. I love him infinitely. And those books? In one word - BRILLIANT.

5. Scarlet - The Rescuer:
A book with a character on a mission.

For this I just HAVE to go with Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson. What an awesome book. The main character, David, is totally set on killing Steelheart, the corrupt leader of Newcago, from the first chapter. I love this book so so so much. It's a wonderful, extremely creative sci-fi book and Brandon Sanderson is honestly a genius writer. Plus David is hilarious!

6. Wolf - The Fighter:
A book with a brutal fight.

Uhh... don't I have to go with Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas? I somehow knew this series would make it into this tag in one way or another! Honestly, I've never been the biggest fan of these books, but they just keep getting better for me! Minus the whole weird Chaol business... BUT THE MANON AND AELIN FIGHT. It didn't end so brutally, but it was so intense! Those are two of the strongest, most brutal female characters I've ever read, and THEY WERE FIGHTING. Plus I think Manon is the greatest. I know lots of people disagree, but her chapters were always my favorites.<3 LONG LIVE MANON.

7. Levana - The Villain:
A book with the absolute worst villain.

I'm just gonna go ahead and choose what first came to mind - the villains I've never quite recovered from... THE LOVERS from Kresley Cole's Dead of WinterThe Arcana Chronicles are just awesome books. I've never read anything else like them and they're so action-packed and filled to the brim with horrifying and magnificent characters. No one has ever come close to the Lovers.

8. Thorne - The Rascal:
A book with the biggest schmoozer.

Well, there's really only one Thorne. He's the biggest rascal ever! But my next pick would be Nikolai from Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo. From his very first appearance in this book, I compared him to Thorne. My mind kept jumping back to him for this category because he's just so snarky and I'd probably describe him as a rascal, scoundrel, or opportunist. Also charming. Definitely a charmer.

9. Cress - The Hacker:
A book about technology, or sci-fi.

GAAAAHHH. I so wanted to pick Ready Player One by Ernest Cline for this, but my heart is making me choose another book! Let me introduce you to Attachments by Rainbow Rowell. I actually didn't like it as much as Ready Player One, and it's absolutely NOT a sci-fi, but everything happens because of technology! And it's seriously precious. It's funny and heartwarming - perfectly balanced - and it is one of the most fabulous contemporaries I've ever read! But... also check out Ready Player One.

10. Erland - The Doctor:
A book with an illness or revolving around medical issues.

The book I decided to go with for this is Magonia by Maria Dahvana Headley. THIS BOOK IS SO WEIRD. So freakin' trippy! But I really enjoyed it. It all starts out with this girl named Aza who has a very serious medical issue - it's almost like she's drowning in air! And then it turns into this crazy, flying-ship, birds-singing-in-your-chest, elements-changing-through-the-sheer-power-of-song, insane adventure! It's. Really. Weird. But I would recommend it if you're looking for something totally original! It's like an awesome dream. Also, I'm dying because of the beauty of this cover.

11. Winter - The Unsound Mind:
A book with the craziest character you've ever read.

I am perfectly aware that this is a stretch, but I'm picking Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor for this category. LET ME EXPLAIN. Karou is not crazy. But she seems like she has an unsound mind for the first part of the book! When I read about her drawings of Brimstone & friends I thought she was legitimately crazy. But I was so happy when it all got so real! I really enjoyed this book and I truly love Karou. Guys, I had such a hard time with this category!

12. Jacin - The Soldier:
A book with a military theme:

Okay, this may be a stretch too, but I THINK IT COUNTS. These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner. It didn't totally have a 100% military theme, but Tarver is a soldier and at the beginning of each chapter we get clips of his reports with his superiors and... I don't know. He's a soldier. So there's that. This is a seriously beautiful story - I was MADLY in love when I first read it. And Tarver is... you know... one of the most perfect male characters. So there's that too. It's got a lot going for it!

Well there it is! The Lunar Chronicles book tag. Super fun! All of the books I listed are wonderful and I definitely recommend them. (: Thanks for reading!
